this year, was the first year in 5 years i had to spend alone. oh no, don't pity me lah, i actually found this year quite empowering. Anyway, valentine's day is not meant to be a selfish day (judging from how roses are priced that day) so why celebrate your love for ONE person when you can celebrate for SEVEN?
this valentine's put perspective in my view of love. love IS overrated. terribly. i thought i might just crumble in silence at the sight of necking couples or balloons with i heart you springing up in town but i was fine this year.
i had friends, who by far has cared more about me then any valentine's date or boyfriend.
i had incredible food, which has surpassed all previous valentine's day's cookouts (one was spent scrapping the pots and pans for the burnt remnants of attempt romantic food, one I had to spend because his birthday was on that day, and one... this one takes the cake. i had to sit by the roadside and eat cold storage type chicken with my date and then watch a terrible movie (of his choice)).
i had presents! (which NO valentine has ever given me.)
speaking of which, me and sera panicked because we didn't buy ours till the last minute. vivocity we came but we succumbed to our chocolate cravings and had some awesome muffins and chocolate cake at starbucks.

and in NON-valentine's day tradition, we started exchanging stories of the most traumatising movies we had ever watched. (this i will get to in a while!)
and valentine's day is here!
our entrees include lor 9 geylang beef kway teow, hokkien mee and frog porridge.
we retired for dessert at mer's house where we had secret valentines.

we paired up and played pictionary where me and kenneth where the underdogs and in the heat of the moment i slapped him. in a friendly non threatening sort of way lah. all is well in our land.
the night went on with talk and drinking games. by 2ish, we all went home.
the next day, i decided to cook and guess who came and helped me out?
haiya kenneth!

we had an awesome lunch and decided to watch a show.
remember me and sera talking about the most traumatising show we watched? i thought mine was Hostel 1 (2005). i am wrong:

cannibal holocaust takes the cake.
i don't recommend it to anyone, i don't want any of my friends to watch it. i only watched it because i caught a documentary on snuff films (i.e films that involve a real killing of a humans or humans by another human for sexual gratification and meant to be mass distributed) and that documentary said this was a snuff film.
i regret it totally.
the animal killings were real.
women were impaled and raped
men's nether regions were mutilated.
people were set on fire.
oh my god, me and kenneth didn't even have the stomach to sit through the whole thing. we fast forwarded tons of footage. please don't watch it. anyway it's kind of banned in singapore.
i'm just glad i had valentine's day to cushion the blow. :)
