forget me not.

while cleaning the house today, packing for the great move to jurong, my mother came across three autograph books from 40 years ago.

i have to say, my mother was quite a player back in the day.
at sixteen years old, she had one book just dedicated to boys she dated can.

"for you, the sky is merely in reach
for you, the moon is not too great a venture
because your beauty has captured me
and made me invincible"

whoar lau, mother! hot stuff sia!

she had 3 books, one for her golden girls (who she is still friends till this day), one for family and one for BOYS ONLY.

"i was quite chio last time ok. or as the malay boys say: "chantek lawania!"

but the work these boys put in for my mother was commendable!
this was done by her boyfriend, one of the serious ones. he spent 3 hours doing this tiny page. dedication!

and he was some rock star can, from the thunderbirds, the 60s version of electrico. my mother was a groupie, excites!

this one, was signed D.Lee, and he looks oddly similar to a singaporean celeb about my mother's age with the same intials.

i'm afraid to ask.

i leave you with a quote from one of my mother's "playmates":

don't make love at the garden gate,
love is blind, but the neighbours ain't.
